COWHORN expands Applegate Valley vineyards

Demand grows for boutique Biodynamic® winery’s white Rhônes

APPLEGATE VALLEY, OR COWHORN® Vineyard & Garden, a small Southern Oregon winery winning big national praise for its first releases, is planting new vines to keep up with growing demand for its Biodynamic® white Rhône varietals. The estate will add an acre each of, Marsanne and Roussanne, and three more acres of its perennially sold-old Viognier. In total, the farm will plant 13,300 new grapevines.

As part of a master plan developed nearly a decade ago with holistic estate advisor Alan York, over half of the 117-acre estate is reserved for gardens, habitat, forest and riparian areas with just 50 acres set aside for vineyards. Following the expansion only 21 acres will be in cultivation, including 17 in vineyard and 4 in gardens, primarily asparagus.
