This wine gets its name from the number of hours of frost our Grenache block suffered through in 2008. We must have chosen the right grape for that rocky site, because the vines shrugged off the cold and produced grapes with ripe rhubarb and blackberry flavors balanced with mouthwatering acidity. The wine pulled some amazing dark chocolate flavors out of the barrels. To keep that richness, the wine is unfiltered so don't be bothered if a touch of sediment finds its way into your glass. Of course it's still Grenache, so it will be a great wine with food all through the year.

Saturated inky colors from rim to center. Delicate aromas of black cherry, cocoa, meat, lavender and cassis float from the glass. The wine opens to reveal hints of compost and cardamom. Deep fruit flavors and a lush palate give way to soft tannins on the finish. Our first red release, 2nd leaf! While youthful, delicate and nuanced, the balance and integrity of this wine complement any meat or stronger vegetarian fare.

There’s only one wine variety that’s supposed to taste like blueberries, and this Syrah shows you why. The sweet blueberries are wreathed in dark black cherries and tangy blackberries as well as meaty, masculine flavors of raw beef and baked beets. It takes a full-bodied, plush-textured wine to blend so many big flavors into one tasting experience, and the vintage gave it to us in 2007. We let the wine develop its personality for more than a year in the barrel, and it will continue to evolve in the bottle -- or in your glass.

This succulent blend opens with aromas of Golden Delicious apple, guava and mango. These fruits burst with freshness in the mouth, layered onto a vibrant foundation of baked pear and caramelized golden sugar flavors hinting at subtle oak influence from 23% new French barrels. The feeling of the wine is raw silk layered in velvet, unrolling across the palate like a wave until the flavors volatilize back into aromas that linger gently on the palate. The rich, complex personality of Spiral 36 was achieved without a secondary fermentation, and comes with refreshingly moderate alcohol.
