Six Nations Wine Challenge

Cowhorn 2017 Viognier, Runner Up Double Gold, $35 SOLD OUT

In the fall of 2019, Cowhorn was invited to submit our Viognier for participation in an international showing of new world wines: Six Nations Wine Challenge – The New World Wine Challenge. Our wine was tasted alongside some of the finest wines from the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Chile and New Zealand. This was a big deal for a tiny company like ours and it is with great pleasure that I share the results.

2017 Viognier – Runner Up Double Gold Medal

What does “Runner Up Double Gold Medal” mean? They liked it! There were only three USA wines that brought home the title Runner Up Double Gold Medal. The ranking order they provide is as follows: Gold, Double Gold, Runner Up Double Gold and Trophy, Trophy being the highest accolade you can receive and only one wine per class gets a Trophy award. Considering our class “Other White Varieties” consisted of a huge showing of varieties such as Viognier, Gewurztraminer, Gruner Veltliner, Muscat, Torrontes, Moscatel, Siegerrebe, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Verdelho and others, we are pretty proud of this recognition.

Though the 2017 and 2018 Viogniers are sold out, we know that you might have a special bottle or two tucked away in your cellar. When you open it, make sure to share a toast with us! Accomplishments like these could not be achieved without your support. So, cheers to you.
